Planetshakers and The Takeover
posted: 10:27 PM | comments: 0

About three months ago before SPM even started, a well known Christian band called Planetshakers held a concert in my church! It was a pretty huge event for my church I would say for there was a total of 1600 people (or more) who came. Upon reaching church, I was shocked because there was a massive queue of people were lining up from the hall onwards to the car park. The best part was 90% of the people there were new faces. I felt like a stranger in my own church lol.

But of course, being a member of HSG has its own benefits. I managed to cut the long queue and went all the way to the front hehe (PS there is no such benefit I came up with that benefit by myself ^_^) When the doors were opened, we rushed in and managed to get the front spot! People started filling up the hall one by one it was so packed I could barely move. But it was nice being able to see so many people longing to praise God.

The concert started about an hour later and they were so good! I loved the energy they had during the praise songs. The worship songs were beautiful and I could feel that the people there were moved by them. Best part was I was literally a few feet away from them!!!

The band!

Managed to take picture with two of the members from the band!

Great experience indeed!

HSG decided to hold their own youth concert known as The Takeover- Our Turn Now! I was called to join the music team to perform for the concert itself. I hesitated in the beginning because I had to cope with my studies due to SPM but agreed in the end because I knew God placed me in the team for a purpose. Working with the seniors was a whole new experience altogether. I've learned about being committed, pouring effort into perfecting a song, making sure that the hype is there and being together as a team. The organizer, Aaron Daniel, together with the committees had put in a lot of effort as well in making sure the concert was a success.

Before the concert started, the committees prepared some pizzas, light snacks and even free ice-cream for everyone! Because I was going to be on stage, I ate very little for dinner not because I want to diet ok I know I am skinny enough. It was because there would not be enough time for my body to do its digesting job, so. :(

Outfit of the night!

Aaron and Natasha were the emcees of the night. They did a great job in bringing up the hype of the crowd! The concert then begun.

Local dance group known as Hyperactive. They definitely did heat up the atmosphere that night!

Speaker of the night, Pastor Matt Fielder!

Half of the band! I wasn't in the picture because I was busy taking pictures with the others. :(

With the big brother (pun not intended)

Meet Felicia, a new friend I met that night!

Our various attractive faces haha.

Click here to watch the highlights of the event!

I hope the others enjoyed themselves as much as I did.

Oh how I miss blogging.

Hello guys. As you can tell by the title, SPM is finally over!

It was a stressful November indeed. Had to juggle between time for studies, for church, for stalking purposes (heeheee ^_^) and such. This year's SPM was... different I would say. There were so many things going on since day 1. Students who passed away, papers which questions were weirdly designed- there were even students complaining about questions which got leaked out (seriously??). Overall, the papers seemed okay to me and all is done for sure.

Celebrated the last day of SPM by catching a movie with Xin Yue, Wee and Fung Yee! We watched Catching Fire and it was so damn good. Though I read the book last year, I could hardly remember the plot due to my ever-depleting memory. But the movie gave me so much feels I lost count of how many times I secretly cried during the movie. T__T  The roles were well played and the movie was greatly interpreted as well. I wouldn't mind watching it again no joke.

Went for prom shopping with my girls during the weekend which was not a legit one since only Woo and Mei Thoong were hunting for prom dresses. I had something to wear already, so I was only hunting for a clutch/bag plus accessories to go with my outfit. Only managed to find some rings though, couldn't find any clutch/bag 'till today sighpie. Any recommendations on where to search for pretty bags?

This is what girls do best. Try on beanies without buying them and sneakily take selfies.

Also went for a karaoke session with Jack, Hedy, Fung Yee and Wee last week. Woo was supposed to join us but she was sort of grounded so :(. Usually, I don't do karaoke outings because I am not that interested in spending money on singing but I thought I should give it a try since the last time I went for one was like two years ago? Turned out it was quite fun and I nearly lost my voice.

While waiting for Hedy's dad to pick us up from Sunway Pyramid, we took pictures with the Christmas set-up. Managed to witness the sweetest couple shot taken by the one and only Hedy Hiew with instructions from Jack lololol because they were too shy.

This vain pot desperately posing for a new profile picture.

Sigh why so sweet.

Chilled at Hedy's place for a short while and we played Heads Up. It is like charades, except that you can use words to describe the word. Hedy skipped both Taylor Swift related questions when it was her turn the world must have hated her.

The last day of SPM marks the last day of school as well. High school was where I watched my primary school friends grew up, where the all of us reached puberty, where we started making new friends and get tied into relationships, where we experienced constant nagging from teachers and heartbreaks. I still remembered how the first day of high school went- being in a new environment, seeing so many new faces, running away from seniors lololol (no offence, but juniors these days are not even afraid of us seniors anymore). I also remembered how happy and overjoyed I was when I first got accepted to join the prefect board (which I hated for the next 3 years haha so stupid of me). Five years of high school had made me a changed person- it was the turning point of my life. It wasn't a drastic change (I hardly changed physically) but in person, I guess I did change. I will definitely miss my classmates whom most of them had spent five years of their lives being in the same class with me. As much as I hated being a prefect, I still miss making new friends during my duties and having some power for that point in my life lol.

And how can I forget my best friends? They were the ones who grew up with me, stick with me through thick and thin (lol sounds like a marriage vow), been through stress and joy together. They were the reason why I look forward to attending school at times. High school would not be the same without them.

Good times.

MONTHLY FAVORITES: June 2013
posted: 1:04 PM | comments: 0

Here comes the seventh month of the year, July. In approximately four more months, I will be sitting for SPM *cringes*. And here I am being lazy and procrastinating every single day giving myself excuses to not start studying. I made a promise to myself to start studying by July but before that, let's get into my June favorites shall we?

BEAUTY

Nail polish from Skin Food

Finally tried a nail polish from Skin Food and I love it! It only takes one coat for great results and it dries up pretty fast unlike Elianto's. It comes in a reasonable price as well (anything below RM10 is reasonable for me) but unfortunately Skin Food does not have a wide range of colors which is sad.

The one I picked up is in aqua blue. It's so appropriate for any time of the day or anytime of the year- it's just a really pretty color. Applied it on during the holidays and I did get a few compliments on my nails.

FASHION

Joy division sleeveless top from H&M

When I first saw this tank top at H&M, I was immediately reminded of Jenn Im from Clothes Encounters. I often see her styling this 'Joy Division' t-shirt in her videos and I didn't actually know what it means until I found out it was a super old English rock band loool. I love watching her videos mostly because of her bubbly personality and her voice, man I can listen to it all day (I sound like a creeper but I am not).

What I love about this top is it's design and it's cutting. It's kind of like a loose top but it fits perfectly and it covers my belly button alright.

Tank top from Cotton On

I guess I went overboard with sleeveless tops lately as I have too many sleeveless tops in my wardrobe already. Anyway, this top comes in a teal-ish blue color which is a very pretty color- I mean, who does not love the color teal? I could dress it up by pairing it with a pair of white jeans or pleather skirt (I wore this out a thousand times already btw) or dress it down with a pair of shorts. I love versatile pieces like these.

Also love the detailing on the top (if you can see it).

FOOD

Green tea swiss roll from RT Pastry

As much as I love cakes, I am also very picky about them. I particularly dislike swiss roll because it contains too much cream. It makes me feel like I am eating cream instead of cakes instead.

But this one is different because it contains less cream in it and it tastes delicious. The tiny red beans squashed in between the rolls goes so well with the taste of green tea and the cream. I could not help myself from eating them, hence it finishes in less than 5 days. This cake is now one of my family's favorites loool.

Cranberry stick from RT Pastry

...yeap another pastry from RT Pastry. It is actually a hard crust baguette but mom always requests it to be cut into smaller pieces, so that it will be easier to consume. The combination of cranberries and nuts makes the baguette taste so so yummy and addictive(!!!).

YOUTUBER

Cassey Ho from Blogilates! Cassey is a Pilates and fitness instructor who makes videos and blogs about workouts. Miraculously, I got myself into workouts lately mainly focused on the tummy area because I am tired of having a bloated tummy. Yes I admit I am skinny overall but somehow all the fats I've consumed accumulate at one area only- my tummy.

Cassey's videos gave me an idea or two on what workouts should I do and she is indeed a great motivator. She is loud, funny, energetic and she has a really nice body. Do check her out if you're into fitness!

On a side note: I am progressing pretty well but I do welcome more suggestions on tummy / abs workouts.

SONGS

Just Give Me A Reason by Pink ft. Nate Ruess. I am so obsessed with this song- it is just so good!

Up In The Air by Thirty Seconds To Mars. Usually I am not into rock music but this one has a twist to it. It is indeed a good song.

OTHERS

Handphone cover from Sungei Wang

Finally found a cover for my poor little phone which had been cover-less for months. What to do my handphone model is unknown in the market, thus I always cant find a suitable cover for it T.T. I myself was shocked when I saw this cover hanging on the shelf for an affordable price, so yes I had to reward my handphone with something. It has suffered all the complaints and curses I gave it when it annoys me hahaha I damn mean. The downside of this cover is that it is made out of rubber, so it gets dirty easily. Haiyo what to do have to bear with this 'till I can find another suitable cover.

In spite of that, I am loving the color of my new cover!

I think that's about it. I have to start studying so.

Laura Wong. Sixteen and still growing up. A tanned Chinese who also speaks broken Mandarin. Has a huge craving for cookies and scones and milk tea. A child of God and a vainpot.
