I'm currently blogging about this camp with mild fever, flu, sore throat and two mouth ulcers. I caught all these after the camp. Had to skip school today and Monday just to rest at home. And also my Add Maths tuition. My health condition isn't that bad lah. The fever comes and go and comes back again. But it's mild, still I have to rot at home. Sad Laura is sad.
WARNING. THIS IS GOING TO BE A VERY LONG WORDY POST. BUT THERE WILL BE PICTURES ALONG THE WAY SO YOU WONT GET BORED. ^.^
Anyway,
This camp is a 2 day 1 night trip. It was on the 7th to 8th July, which was last Saturday and Sunday. This time, there were 82 students who joined this camp. Initially, this camp was only opened to prefects but then they combined with the PRS as the teachers have financial issues. Due to the lack of people, it was opened to librarians and students who are the chairman / assistant chairman of clubs in school but the priority is still given to the prefects and PRS. And in the end, the camp is opened to everyone lol. Just like every other camps.
Everyone was supposed to reach school by 8am on Saturday. I reached school at about 7.50am and I found Suet Ling there. Woo, Shas and Mei Thoong weren't there yet. I was more surprised to find out that the bus wasn't even here yet. -_- But I already expected the bus to come late since it came an hour late last year. The girls bus came 30 minutes later and the guys one came an hour later. The bus this year is pretty nice. Way better than last year's one. It has comfortable chairs and most importantly, AIRCOND. Oh, there was a television installed in front too but I couldn't really watch the movie that was playing because I sat behind with Woo.
Omg my eyebags are starting to grow already. :'(
From left: Mei Thoong, Woo, Suet Ling, Me, Shas
Woo said we both look alike here.
Took this in the bus.
I didn't bring my handphone to camp this time though because before this, teacher said that they won't be responsible on the electronic gadgets we brought. But I brought my camera to the camp though heheh. I must take pictures one okay. xD
Reached our campsite after an hour and 30 minutes. Our campsite was in Semenyih. That wasn't our campsite yet, we had to take a jeep to our actual campsite! It was the first time I sat in a jeep. I squeezed into the jeep with about 10-15 people at the back. Nobody wanted to sit in front lol. The whole journey to the campsite was awesome weih! From the view of the forest to the screams and laughter. The bumpy route and the speed of the jeep. The super cooling wind! (Y) The moment when Kai Cheng's butt kept hitting onto Kok Kwan's face hahaha. And how those who were standing behind kept falling onto the ones who were sitting down. So very the awesome.
Greenery.
While waiting for the jeep heh.
Le jeeeeeep.
I'm not sure how long did the ride on the jeep took but I assume it was around 10-15 minutes? The campsite this year was so disappointing. The whole area was like for orang asli. It was like a kampung area, no brick building, no fan, no everything. And I thought last year's campsite was bad.
We placed our luggage at the eating area before heading to the hall. The camp coordinator introduced himself and the other camp committees. Then, each of them gave a short speech. We were told about the rules and regulations and so on. The camp commander took over and taught us to do the 'Tepuk Komandor', their way where we have to clap according to rhythm for three times. He said this is to teach us how to be discipline but I don't see how this activity builds up discipline in ourselves. Everyone was asked to stand up and we had to sing the 1 Malaysia song with some simple actions. We had to memorize the lyrics on the spot and sing. I don't see the benefit from this activity either..
The hall.
They camwhored with my camera. -_-
Sam eating Mamee, Jack posing and Shas.. posing too lol.
Sam and Jack with a Mamee packet. Okay..
The bridge to our bamboo houses.
Our sad dorm.
Our bamboo house was called Markisa.
The view outside our door lol.
Sulweeeeeen.
Had our lunch first. There were rice, spicy fish and vegetables. I only ate the rice and vegetables because the fish looked really spicy. :( The worst part is, we had to eat using our hands. No fork and spoon provided. That was the first time I eat using my hand. The soap provided was the same soap used to wash the dishes. So unhygienic ugh.
Eating area.
The place to wash our cups and dishes.
Our second activity was to travel to the forest again, ( This time deeper.) to build a shelter on our own given only an axe, make roti lilit using the flour provided and start a fire to cook them. Our group were divided again because we lost in the previous activity. So I was in group 3 this time with Woo, Sulwen and Chloe. :D We walked through the jungle but this time the route was more narrow and steeper. I had to stop Samuel who was in front of me every now and then to help me out. xD Everyone helped out each other throughout the whole journey which was nice. I personally enjoyed this part because I find it fun and adventures ( Coming from me trolololol. ) There was a fountain nearby which was really pretty. Wished I could jump into it but I wouldn't even dare lol.
So when we reached our destination, everyone got to work. Okay, not everyone, only some people. A few guys were building the shelter, another few guys were starting the fire and a few girls were making the dough. As for me, I was stoning around with Woo and Mei Thoong lol. We had nothing to do. ._. They didn't even divide the jobs, they just started off by themselves. But I helped to cook the roti lilit after it was done. I took a small bite of it and it actually tasted not bad. I can be a baker some day hahahaha jokes.
It was evening when we got back and it was time to bathe. Guess where we took our bath? In the river! I wasn't please when I first heard it but after all, bathing in the river was a fun experience! The river water was icing cold and the bottom was not flat so we had to be careful where we stepped in order to not get ourselves hurt by stepping on rocks. Me, Shas, Suet Ling, Sulwen and Chloe were playing in the river like small kids. xD All the guys were shirtless on the other side of the river lololol. Woo joined us but only for five minutes because we were called out. :(
At night, we had this event called "Malam Kebudayaan". During dinner, those who are Chinese had to eat using their hand while the Malays and Indians had to eat using chopsticks. Hahaha it was fun watching the Malays and Indians eating using chopsticks! Some of them cheated by using their hands. :( Shas had to eat using the chopsticks too. :P
Oh, before we took our bath, we were told to come up with a group name that relates to herb, a group cheer and a presentation which relates to the three main races in our country, Malay, Chinese and Indian. P.S group 4 was back again lol. We had only 30 minutes to do so. But it turned out that group 4 did the best! Our group name was Serai. For our presentation, a few guys did a short play about Malaysian history in Malacca for the Malay, me , Suet Ling, Mei Thoong and another girl did a short fan dance for the Chinese and two indian girls did a short dance for the Indian. Everyone did well and the credits go to Jack Lam! He was the one who had a headache choreographing the whole thing and didn't get to rest. Glad to have him in the group. :)
Just when I thought this whole thing was about to end for the night, the camp commander told us that there was going to be a 'Night Walk'. For those who don't know what that is, basically all of us will be brought to the forest and we have to walk a 100m route in the jungle alone without any source of light. Plus, there will be a few teachers / seniors who will act as ghosts to scare you along the way. This activity is to test how brave you are. Clear enough, I wasn't one of the brave ones because I cried even before the activity started. I'm a coward kayh. :( Suet Ling cried even before we climbed up the hill so I was not the only coward lah hahah.
Luckily the camp commander was kind, he allowed those who are too afraid to walk alone to walk in pairs. Suet Ling and I went together as contestant no 9. For the first few minutes, we held hands and kept quiet. Not long after, we saw contestant no 8 who were Chloe and Sulwen. When we were about to approach them, one of the teachers scared us from the side and we screamed. xD We joined them and we screamed again for the second time. Hahah even Chloe and Sulwen didn't scream. They were younger than us yet they were so brave. Malu malu. :x
The whole thing ended at about 2 am in the morning. We were allowed to go back to our bamboo houses to sleep. Suet Ling and I ended up talking with Codie and Kah Wai till almost 4 am. xD I only had 2 hours plus of sleep 'cause I woke up at 6.30am the next morning. With the sound of fireworks released as an alarm.
We did some stretching, exercises and jogged around the area. Had fried mee hoon ( The best dish we had in the camp I would say. ) and this time we were give plastic forks. Should have just gave us earlier right? -_- Was supposed to have a water activity later but they canceled it for some reasons. So disappointed lah! Everyone was looking forward to this water activity as it had been postponed since the previous day but they canceled it. ;( In the end, we bathe in the river again. This time, Woo managed to join us. We played with the water more than the first time! So much fun!
Packed our bags and gathered at the hall again. We had to sing the 1 Malaysia song again and had a majlis penutupan. Something amusing happened when the camp commander was giving his comments about the camp. While he was talking, someone farted! That brought up the environment in the camp hahah! I don't want to mention names, pity the fellow lah xD But that person was a girl. Took the jeep back. I didn't get to stand again, but this time I get to sit closer to the front.
Wet hairrr.
Hahah okay I look retarded here but this picture is cute. c:
Chloeeeee!
HAHAHA sorry Sam I just had to post this!
P.S Lol I just noticed Rohit at the back.
Went up the bus and went back to school. I was sleeping throughout the whole journey back to school. Reached school and we dismissed.
Overall, the camp was okay to me. The activities organized and the accommodation provided were disappointing. Did I mention the toilet? The toilets had no flush and no lights. -_- Apart from that, the jeep ride, the river bathing, the late night talks were fun! Walking through the forest and getting close to nature was truly an experience for me. Who would forget about the scary Night Walk? For someone who is as coward as me, I'd call it an achievement lololol. I also managed to bond with those who once I wasn't close with and met a lot of new people. Most of the people there were young kids lol. Those who shared the same room with me has seen the total unglam side of me hahaha. But compared to last year's camp, last year's one was obviously way more awesome.
