THE LONELY.

Broken pieces of a barely breathing story.
Hi. I'm still alive.
My blog is dead as always.
But of course la got something happened or not I wont be here blogging. Recently, Suet Ling and I took part in our school's English Singing Competition organized by the English Club. We took part in the duet category. When Suet Ling first asked me to join the competition, I hesitated. I didn't really want to join the competition because of the voting system thingy which I find it pretty unfair and also, memories from form 1 lol. But then idk why, suddenly I felt like joining. Maybe it's because Shas and Chui See decided to join as a pair too.
We had to go through the auditions first before getting into the finals. And it was so damn hard to decide on a song to sing. I know, there are many many beautiful songs out there but idk why when it comes to choosing a song for a competition, it's like... counting how many hairs you have on your head lol. Okay I may seem like I'm exaggerating but it's partially true! Not easy to find a song which suits our voices one ok. In the end, we sang Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift and we passed! There were a few amusing performances by the contestants on that day which they will be remembered forever! xD
You're insecure! Don't know what for!
HAHAHA SORRY I MUST STOP.
P.S One of the contestants sang that song la ok.
The finales was two weeks after the auditions. Actually it was supposed to be on the 27th July 2012, but due to the technical errors of the PA system, the competition was delayed. And the weird part was, the solo and duet finales were separated into two Fridays. The solo one was first. Forgot to mention that Chui See took part in the solo competition too! She sang Hurt by Christina Aguilera and it was great! Except for certain parts where she sang slower than the instrumental background. Since I'm a very good friend, I voted 3 bucks for her. :P One vote costs 50 cents, so that was 6 votes in total!
The duet finale was on last Friday! There were 8 duet partners that got through altogether but 2 forfeited. Suet Ling and I were struggling on what song to sing for the finals (just like the auditions). Initially, we wanted to sing Haunted by Taylor Swift (again), but we sounded horrible with the instrumental. Then we tried Total Eclipse Of The Heart by Glee but then... damn hard to sing la k I keep cracking. T.T So we decided on Arms by Christina Perri! (we only decided on the day before the competition lol damn efficient right I know) We were the fourth contestant and I think we did pretty well. Except that Suet Ling cracked a little at the bridge and I cracked a little at the ending (why oh why T.T). Shas and Chui See sang The One That Got Away by Katy Perry and it was good! Better than ours some more.
A few contestants were pretty unlucky though especially the first pair. Idk what happened to the PA system, their instrumental background was quite horrible and the microphones were so soft! Cannot listen to what they singing also. I feel really sad for them because it was not their fault. :/
Not to forget, I also dreamt about the competition the night before this. I kept dreaming that we both screwed up, forgot the lyrics and the PA system got problem. I woke up at 7am (without alarm, how amazing!) and went back to sleep and amazingly enough, I dreamt about the competition again. -_-
Anyway, we didn't win mainly because of the voting system. We found out that we got the second highest scores from the judges but.. oh well. Nevertheless, congrats to Chui See for winning third place in the solo category and to Chui See again and Shas for winning third in the duet category! Proud of them! :)
Still, thank you to those who came to support Suet Ling and I! And also to those who voted for us! Really really appreciate the votes k!
And also thank you to our classmates who were forced to listen to us practicing before the auditions for one whole week. I think they listened 'till they got sick of our voices already hahaha.
Lesson learnt: Life is unfair.
P.S No pictures of the competition because Woo didn't bring her DSLR on the day.
