OIC Camp 2013
posted: 3:42 PM | comments: 0

Attended Taylor's OIC Camp again this year at the same venue: Taylor's University Lakeside Campus! I blogged about last year's OIC Camp too. Click here to read if you're interested.

This time, there were 7 of us who went. We arrived at the venue earlier that day because Suet Ling's dad was busy. Registered for something different this time; T-shirt printing! No la actually we wanted to go for cake pops but the workshop was full, so we had to pick another one. There were many other interesting workshops to pick from too such as Photography, The Art of Fine Dining, Event Management and such.

Love this picture of us! #bffootd

Huge crowd.

We were the first to registered at our counter, so we had plenty of time at the Grand Hall. Each of us was given a goodie bag which contained a cooking book (which I will probably never use), a tupperware, an elastic band, a few samples of face wash and tissue wipes. Sam Qmar (Yindian) was the emcee of the day! I'm not sure whether was he the same emcee as last year's. While waiting, they played some funny videos to keep us entertained. He also managed to call up a few volunteers (actually they got tricked by him saying that the first five who come up on stage will win something) to do a super unglam Gwiyomi. Some of them were really sporting while some were not so sporting, but the most hillarious one is still the guy in the video! In the mean time, we also made use of time very produvtively by camwhoring. ^_^

Yindian!

Contestants watching the video of a super unglam Gwiyomi hahaha.

Our elastic bands!

Love this picture too but it is blur. :(

Spotted myself and Suet Ling on the screen! It was taken during last year's OIC Camp hahah we are famous! *jokes*

Each of us was given this tiny ticket and schedule which had the list of activities planned for the day. The workshops were separated into two different timing (like last year's) and we were lucky to have our workshops first. So we headed to one of the rooms (I can't remember if the room had a name) and we were told that the T-shirt printing is separated into two types; one was manual and the other was digital. We quickly rushed into the manual one but we were too late because there were not enough places for us. Hedy, Chui See, Ming Jun and Samuel had to move to the digital one. So it was just me, Woo and Suet Ling left in the manual one lol why are we always together is this fate or what hahaha.

Our facilitator was a guy whose name I can't remember grr. He was really friendly and tiny in size. We were asked to introduce ourselves by stating our names, schools and what we ate for breakfast before we begun our workshop. I think it's a nice thing getting to know each other a little (not that I remember any names actually) before we began.

The facilitator showed us a cosmic t-shirt that he made within 10 minutes and told us how to create a design of our own using bleach. Yes just bleach plus a little volume of water, so that the bleach wouldn't be too corrosive for us beginners. He also taught us a few ways to create unique designs using rubber bands and masking tapes. After all the explanation, we started designing our own t-shirt.

The guy asked us to stand on chairs when we are using the bleach to avoid getting bleach stains on our bottoms but after a while everyone started getting down.

The t-shirt I simply designed lol not bad right.

With the facilitator hahaha look at him!

Met up with the rest from the digital t-shirt printing workshop for lunch. Intially, we wanted to have lunch at Old Town but it was fully packed so we decided on a Western restaurant. The food was mediocre or maybe it was just my dish.

Ordered Carbonara Spaghetti which was a little dry.

Our shoes! Suet Ling wanted this picture so.

We were supposed to have a 3 hours break but after about 2 hours or so we were called to gather back at the Grand Hall. Next up was a station game known as Millionaires In Action. We were divided into groups of ten. 2 boys (Brandon and Smith) from USJ 12 joined our group because we didn't had enough people and yes there were only nine of us in our group. Our group name was Dinosaur and the leader was Ming Jun.

Before the game started, the emcee gave us the instructions and told us to choose three people from our group to be blindfolded. Suet Ling, Chui See and Smith volunteered to be blindfolded and I had to guide Suet Ling throughout the game. Suet Ling was indeed a very noisy blind person and she kept saying how sociable she became when she was "blind". Pig.

Chui See and her guide ngaww.

The objective of this game was to collect as much money as possible from each station. The downside of this game was that there were too many groups and too few stations to go to. The stations were based on a first come, first serve thingy, so we only managed to complete five stations which was quite sad. Last year's issue was the group was too big and now that they made it too small, it does not solve the issue either. Other than that, I still enjoyed some of the stations but just not as much as last year's.

Then, we gathered back at the Grand Hall for the results. The winners were announced and sadly it wasn't our group. Ok lah kinda expected it already because we didn't collect that much money anyway. Congrats to the winners anyway! :)

Yindian then announced that there was a concert organized by some charity raising fund organization and Jason Chen was going to perform. Yes, JASON CHEN. BUT, he lied. Hedy checked Jason Chen's Twitter account and he tweeted that he was in the States. Wah like that also can lie to us, what a letdown. The whole concert was a letdown actually. The stage had numerous technical difficulties, so most of the time we had some free time which we made use of it by camwhoring again. ^_^ But there were some of them who sang really well and I enjoyed watching the K-pop dance. We even took a photo with them and they look so pretty that I look like a potato beside them.

The huge crowd!

The stage with its numerous technical difficulties.

The dancers!

OIC Camp this year was just okay as the activities weren't well planned and the concert wasn't as great as last year's. But I still enjoyed the workshop and most importantly the quality time spent with the besties. :)
